Effect of Substrates, Planting Period, Explants Nodal Level and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi on Sweetpotato Vine Cutting Production in Soil and Soilless Systems

In West Africa, little attention has been given to the rapid propagation of sweet potato with much dependence on use tuber part as seed. This study thus investigated and establishment a different number nodal segments vines in soil soilless system under influence Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF). Cut (double single explants) from growing plants were planted following substrates; Topsoil, Cocopeat, Cocopeat + 5 g AMF (4 kg each fertigated 250 poultry manure). The experiment was conducted twice (March July August December 2021). 2 (nodal x 3 (substrates) (periods) factorial arranged completely randomized design three replicates. agronomic yield parameters collected analysed using Analysis Variance (ANOVA), means separated Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level significance. At 4 Weeks after Planting (WAP), new leaves produced by explants insignificant. 8 WAP, nodes differed significantly among substrates ranged 17.67±0.42 (cocopeat) 20.17±0.42 (cocopeat+5g AMF). Number tubers between planting periods 3.28±0.41 July) 5.06±0.41 (August December). For efficient vine rooting, node sweetpotato cocopeat substrate manure period year is recommended.
